The joining of the former Gall team significantly boosts the Hong Kong firm’s contentious practice capabilities, particularly in the private client space.

A team of five litigators, led by partners Caroline McNally and Kajal Aswani, has left Hong Kong boutique Gall Solicitors to join local rival Hugill & Ip.

McNally advises on all aspects of family law. She advises on divorces, financial settlements, nuptial agreements and matter related to children in marriages. She joined Gall in 2013, making partner a year later. She was previously based in London and had worked at two other law firms advising on matrimonial matters.

Aswani also focuses on family law matters, often representing ultra-high-net-worth individuals in complex cases. She spent three years as a partner at Gall and was previously a partner at another Hong Kong law firm Robertsons, where she practiced for over 15 years.

The joining of the former Gall team significantly boosts Hugill & Ip’s contentious practice capabilities, particularly in the private client space. The latter firm now counts nine partners, striking a balance in both contentious and non-contentious advice.

Gall, on the other hand, is a disputes-only boutique firm. The departure of McNally, Aswani and their team will leave Gall with five partners and four other lawyers remaining.
